INDEPENDENT FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCE CO-ORDINATOR (SELF-EMPLOYED)

HOURLY RATE: £18.50 PER HOUR  (Plus additional expenses for mileage, travel, attending Team Meetings, Development Days, Supervision and Training, as well as food and refreshment for conferences)

About Us

The Family Group Conference Service has been established in Buckinghamshire County Council since 2007 and is a valued and embedded service, which works collaboratively with key partners, children, family and extended family members to achieve the best outcomes and sustainable solutions for the children, young people and families we were set up to serve, in line with the Children Act 1989.  The FGC Service works creatively to ensure that the child’s voice is pivotal to the decision making process that have an impact on their lives and indeed those of their family within a variety of settings including Early Intervention, Child Protection, Children in Care, Contact, Domestic Abuse, Alcohol and Drug Misuse, Foster Breakdown, Children as Young Carers etc.,

The Family Group Conference Service prides itself on its high practice standards and the expertise of the Independent Family Group Conference Co-ordinator Team, who are the Ambassadors and indeed Champions of the Service. The Service undertook 209 Family Group Conferences in 2016/2017 and it is envisaged that this number will increase during 2017/201 therefore; necessitating the need to recruit further experienced Independent Family Group Conference Co-ordinators.

About the Role

The Family Group Conference Co-ordinator role is pivotal to the successful engagement and outcomes of the Family Group Conference service.  Therefore the right candidates will be required to evidence that they have at least three years’ experience and expertise in working with vulnerable families and children in a variety of settings. 

A qualification (minimum Diploma/NVQ/BTEC Level 4) in Social Care, Youth & Community, Education, Health, and Police or within an equivalent discipline will be required to undertake this role.  Restorative and Solution Focused practices knowledge and skills are fundamentally key in the facilitating role of the FGC Co-ordinator role, as is working creatively and effectively with children and families in times of crisis.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to chair meetings which could be complex and confrontational is an essential requirement for this role.

You will be expected to work between 20 – 25 hours per week minimum on a sessional basis.  It is however highly likely that more hours will be required as the referral rates increase.  You will be offered a self-employed contract and will be home based in line with the County Council’s working at home policies and procedures.  The post will require some working in the evenings and indeed weekends, therefore, a degree of flexibility is required.
