Vacancy Restorative Justice Officer - South East London

Criminal Justice Skills is a successful niche recruitment agency, who have successfully placed people in to Temporary or contract offender management roles across the UK.

Our client is actively seeking a Restorative Justice Officer who has previous experience of directly working with victims of crime.  The role is a temporary position, initially for 3 months, based in SE London to start ASAP (max 2 weeks’ notice).

Key duties will include:

  • To be the lead for Restorative Justice within the service, promoting and embedding the work of restorative justice across the service and partner agencies
  • To recruit, train and mange volunteers across the service
  • Brokering new partnerships with a range of agencies and maintaining relationships
  • To develop and implement an effective volunteer engagement strategy which will support the delivery of the services
  • To establish and implement effective victim referral procedures with YOS, Police Officers, Victim Support and other relevant organisations.
  • To produce case notes, reports and correspondence and maintain accurate records

Knowledge required:

  • Good working knowledge of relevant children and social care and criminal justice legislation, including work with victims
  • Excellent knowledge of the range of voluntary and community organisations that work locally and nationally, and the range of services that they can provide to young people and their parents.
  • High level awareness of the causes of crime, and the effective methods of reducing offending behaviour through evidence based practice
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of restorative justice, how to use restorative approaches effectively and the varying methods of training that can be implemented
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to assess and manage risk and vulnerability.

Essential Experience required:

  • Of working with a range of different partner agencies to develop working protocols in order to meet the needs of young people and their families
  • Experience of training and coaching staff and/or volunteers, and providing ongoing support
  • Experience of service user case management
  • Experience of producing high quality, literate and appropriate records, reports and correspondence for a wide range of readership whilst managing competing deadlines
  • Experience of using Information Technology to a high standard, including case management systems
  • Experience of working effectively within a multi-agency environment
