 *Accreditation in Family Group Conference Co-ordinator Skills

NetCare are running a three day accredited course for those wishing to become FGC Co-ordinators. If you are interested in taking part in this training please email info@netcare-ni.com We will send you an application form and more details of the course.  

Length of training: Three days

Date: 22nd - 24th September 2009  

Venue: Rowing Club Boat House, Caversham Bridge, Reading

Trainers: Jim McGrath and Karen Brown

Group size: Maximum 16                                                              

Cost: £360 (includes registration, all course materials and support)             

Course content: Understanding of Family Group Conference (the history, philosophy and theory), Understanding Family systems and dynamics, Developing good practice standards, working with resistance, preparation, changing establishment ethos, introducing the concept into practice and the skills to facilitate conferences.       Costs include; A training manual (65 pages), handouts,  tutorials and accreditation. 

*Accreditation is provided by Open College Network. A nationally recognised adult education organisation. The qualification is at level 2, 3 credits and is recognised in all European countries. Credits can be used and transferred to related higher eduction courses.


Managing and Resolving Conflicts

Aim

A useful introductory course designed to provide participants with some tools to handle every day conflicts more constructively when they occur within the workplace, groups and organisations, or even within the family. is a prerequisite for Foundation Training in mediation.

Objectives

Give a practical understanding of the dynamics of everyday conflict

Examine personal behaviour and alternative conflict styles

Develop appropiate skills to handle conflict better

Enable people to work more postively with groups and individuals

Create practical steps to address everyday conflict

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to handle interpersonal relationships better, either personally or professionally. The course will be individually designed for the organisation to allow for the participants skills, experience and subject group.

Duration

This course is available in a three day block. The organisation can choose to have it accredited or non-accredited. To receive Open College Network accreditation at Level Two, participants will need to attend all three days and complete a learning portfolio.


Foundation in Mediation Skills

Aim
This course provides an opportunity for participants to acquire basic skills in mediation and to assist others in the resolution of conflict. Participants will gain an understanding of the mediation process and develop the confidence to perform as a mediator in a two-person dispute.

Objectives

  • Understand the mediation processes
  • Recognise core values in mediation and conflict intervention
  • Develop analytical skills for assessing conflict situations
  • Recognise cases suitable for mediation
  • Develop appropriate skills for intervening in conflict

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for those working with people and who have an experience of dealing with conflict on a daily basis. It is suitable for FGC Co-ordinators, RJ Facilitators, Social Workers, Community Workers, individuals with HR responsibilities, teachers, development workers, supervisors, those who interface with the public, line managers in the workplace, Police and Union reps.
Duration
This course is available over six days. To receive OCN accreditation at Level Two, participants will engage in skills practice and complete a learning portfolio.


Advanced Training in FGC Co-Ordinator skills

*Leading to accreditation and qualification

Length of training: Three days

Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One trainer per eight participants or part off
Group size: Maximum 16
Refreshments: Provided by agency
Course Content: Understanding of family systems and dynamics, Understanding the change process, working with resistance, developing higher practice standards, understanding the importance of emotion in the process, negotiation and mediation skills. 

Costs include; A training manual (65 pages), handouts,  tutorials and support. 

*Accreditation is provided by Open College Network. A nationally recognised adult education organisation. The qualification is at level 2, 6 credits and is recognised in all European countries. Credits can be used and transferred to related higher eduction courses.


Restorative Justice Training  

Restorative Justice Facilitators Course

Length of training: Three days plus *two recall days (within six months)
Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One trainer per eight participants or part off
Group size: Maximum 16
Refreshments: Provided by agency
Course Content: Understanding of Restorative Practice Interventions, the history, philosophy, changing establishment ethos, introducing the concept into practice and the skills to facilitate Restorative meetings with or without the victims present.

*We would highly recommend that agencies consider the full five days. We can reschedule the timetable to accommodate a shorter three-day course.


Restorative Justice Training

Short Course

Facilitating Impromptu Restorative Conferences (no extended family members)

Length: Three days
Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One trainer per eight participants or part off
Group size: Maximum 16
Refreshments: Provided by agency
Course Content: Understanding of Restorative Practice Interventions, the history, philosophy, changing establishment ethos, introducing into practice and the skills to facilitate Restorative meetings with or without the victims present.


Introduction to Restorative Practices in schools

Length: One day
Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One
Group size: 10 - 35
Refreshments provided by agency
Includes: Presentation of Restorative Practice theory, research and implementation issues. Video and live Restorative Conference with and for participants 


Resorative Practices in schools training (5 day) 

Length of training: Three days plus plus two days (within six months)
Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One trainer per eight participants or part off
Group size: Maximum 16
Refreshments: Provided by agency
Course Content: Understanding of Restorative Practice Interventions, the history, philosophy, changing establishment ethos, introducing the concept into practice and the skills to facilitate Restorative meetings with or without the victims present.

Participants recieve a training manual detailing theory, history, ethos, worksheets and implementation quidelines 

Three-day courses are available on request.


Consultancy on Restorative Practices in the context of your environment.

Length: Half - full day
Venue: Provided by agency
Consultants: One 
Includes: Meeting with staff and client group, assessment of practice needs and presentation of a full report detailing recommendations for training, implementation and development.


Family Group Conference

*Accreditation in Family Group Conference Co-ordinator Skills

Length of training: Three days plus two recall days (within six months)
Venue: Provided by agency
Trainers: One trainer per eight participants or part off
Group size: Maximum 16
Refreshments: Provided by agency
Course Content: Understanding of Family Group Conference, the history, philosophy, practice standards, dealing with resistance, working, preparation, changing establishment ethos, introducing the concept into practice and the skills to facilitate conferences.

Costs include; A training manual (65 pages), handouts,  tutorials, unlimited telephone support to all participants during their first conference up to six months following the first block of training.

*Accreditation is provided by Open College Network. A nationally recognised adult education organisation. The qualification is at level 2, 6 credits and is recognised in all European countries. Credits can be used and transferred to related higher eduction courses.
